Yes, you read that right.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Oil? On my face? No way.
Just imagine for a moment that elusive clear, supple, radiant skin you often dream of. Smile as you visualize its luminosity and feel its softness. Now let’s make it happen, a few drops at a time.
We’re losing at the game of washing and scrubbing and sanitizing our way to healthy skin. It’s time to trade in harsh chemicals for lasting nourishment. It’s time to reclaim our healthy glow.
We’ve been misinformed to think that the only path to clean, blemish-free skin is through foaming soaps and cleansers. These actually strip our skin of its natural oils, leaving us extremely dry then oily again, in a cyclical battle against ourselves. I know there’s reluctance, fear even, toward applying oils to our face due to the common misconception that using oil on our skin will leave us feeling heavy, greasy and dirty. I’m here to tell you this is far from true.
Put simply, oil dissolves oil. It actively binds to the oil on our face, absorbing dirt and clarifying our pores while leaving our skin hydrated and nourished.
A few drops of your favorite oil or blend (almond, olive, jojoba, argan, to name a few) gently massaged into the skin will replace dirt and dead cells with nutrients and moisture. Once the oils are incorporated, it’s ideal to take a washcloth, run it under warm water, and drape it over your face to open your pores and help your skin more readily absorb the cleansing oils. After repeating this process a few times, gently wipe away the remaining oil and experience how baby soft your face feels.
I know. Life changer. You’re welcome!
The idea here is not to simply slather oil all over your face and call it a day (although if that’s your thing, then by all means, do you!), but to gently replace your natural sebum with healthy oils that will penetrate for lasting hydration.
In a more general sense, making the switch to natural skincare really means shifting away from harmful chemicals to ingredients your body naturally responds to. The majority of commercially produced products contain synthetic substances that are known to contribute to degenerative conditions in the body, and easily absorb into the bloodstream, affecting the internal organs. When we feed our skin nutrients in their original, unadulterated form, our cells can regenerate and fortify themselves quickly and efficiently.
So massage those precious oils into your face and let them do their healing thing.
Massage, rinse, glow, repeat!
